PerDiem

General: PLT provides tracking of a Windows Mobile device via GPS. Geographic boundries (Zones) can be created and when a device moves over a boundry in either direction an alert can be sent to a cell phone or via e-mail. Points Of Interest (POI) can be created and associated with a movable Zone based on closest POI. As the device moves different POI/Zone combinations are created. SMS messages can be used to remotely configure a device. Google maps and selectable Icon colors are used to display device movement/location on a PC. Maps can be pre-loaded to avoid costly airtime charges. Logging and playback of GPS data are included.

Update: ver. 1.1.6 posted

This update simplifies the resetting of the Zoom levels so that GPS is not turned off during resizing.

Some cosmetic changes were also made. Testing for VGA screens was finished and some screen changes were made. Best VGA screen mode is Portrait mode. The screens all 'fit' this mode and are larger then the QVGA (320x240) screens, great for driving etc.

Single Screen Operation ver 1.1.5

The opening screen is re-designed to allow on-hand on-the-go operation. This is useful when in an AUTOmobile or when moving about and the stylus is not appropriate.

You can do the following from the opening screen using just a finger:

* Start/Stop the GPS

* Select the Icon color at any point(s) in a trip

* Send your location (Tap the Logo)

The new version is ver 1.1.5

Lat/Lon data format

It appears that some GPS devices, including devices with built-in GPS, have occasional Lat/Lon data formatting differences. When we set PLT6 output to generate decimal Lat/Lon there appear to still be some format problems. We have modified the PLT6 code to deal with this. PLT6 expects decimal Lat/Lon so be sure to set the GPS for NMEA 0183 and decimal output. The modification should take care of any other format issues.

the new version is ver 1.1.4

Ver. 1.1.3 now available

This update changes the name of the PollON and PollOFF buttons on the Main screen to TrackON and TrackOFF. There was some confusion about the meaning of 'POLL". These selections turn the TIMED SEND on and off. When is set to 'TrackON' your location is automatically sent to the tracking DB. TrackOFF stops this process. The manual show these changes.

Other minor changes have also be incorporated into this revision.

...and another update

When the GPS signal is lost and the POLLING option option is ON, PLT6 normally recycles the timer. This recycling means that when the GPS info reappears PLT6 will not send a packet until the current countdown reaches zero. If the GPS signal is gone (less then 3 satellites) the process repeats itself and more data is missed.

This change places the timer in a 'watchdog' mode and when zero is reached and no GPS signal is present. PLT will send a location packet whenever a signal (3 satellites) is achieved. The time is then (and only then) reset. This change makes in-building data easier to maintain (although position quality is usually poor).
